DEVELOPMENT
The party didn't start 'till Chase dropped in.
The first person Chase talked to after hitting the ground was none other than Jack Benjamin, a slightly older, significantly grumpier man with his own face. Then Chase went off had a grand old time murdering the Neraki, and he joined Kimblee and Lobo (two recruits who didn't return after they were whisked away again) in their own efforts to do it. He used the energy bars he got in his supply bag to lure in a couple strangers for conversation, and learned a little bit about the CDC in the process. The calm didn't last, though, and as soon as the harpies came out to play, Chase was on back on mission, helping out Jack and trying to help Bucky, but getting a screecher bomb thrown at him for his troubles. Rude.
When he finally worked up the nerve to go after the mid-boss, he tagged along with anyone who looked like they knew what they were doing, and ended up helping out D'Artagnan, cracking bad jokes with Loki and Fetch, then getting nowhere with a more direct approach with Samus. Then they all disappeared for a week, and having no real memory of where he's been weighs on Chase's mind just slightly enough to weird him out.
There wasn't time to worry about it overly much, however. As soon as they came back, the new recruits were ordered to stop a stampede of animals headed straight for the new camp location, and Chase contributed to the efforts by creating the illusion of a safe path and then letting the animals trample themselves to death against a solid stone barrier. After the brunt of the stampede was done, he joined up with Alice Quinn and Fox to clean up the stragglers, and talk about their newfound job. During the earthquakes that followed he floated around all the danger zones with his magic, "saving" people from falling down cracks and sinkholes while being decidedly insufferable about it.

DEVELOPMENT
Chase started off his illustrious career with the CDC with a bang. Or a splat, really. He occupied himself during the stampede with killing off all the animals trying to find their way to camp in horrible ways instead of redirecting them like most of the new recruits, but proved capable of curbing his homicidal urges and limiting them to CDC approved targets by not only not attacking any fellow recruits while back at camp, but actively spending hours magically pushing and pulling them to safety during the earthquakes that followed. (Even if he was a smug little turd the whole time he was doing it.) During the whole crazy adventure he happily threw himself at several recruits that he'd talked to during the original drop and some others that he hadn't, but also acquainted himself with and made smalltalk at his new rovermates Steve Rogers and... Steve Rogers, and Bucky Barnes, by far his least favorite clone/not-clone/definitely not ghost, god.
While the downtime that followed his explosive first day made him a tad restless and had him missing the chaos and violence, he also had a ton of fun just teaching/playing volleyball with the clone he actually likes, and then getting thrown into the ocean for being an ass in general. (Absolutely nobody who witnessed this incredible display of unfairness was of any help at all, boo on all of you.)
Chase's first official mission went swimmingly, as his transceiver group managed to find a nice place to build, free of most of the hazards that other teams encountered. The stars aligned, so to speak, and his team finished very early without a hitch (except when someone dropped a piece into the ocean below, and Chase with his ridiculous background in swimming was made to go retrieve it), so he spent the next few hours waiting to sync with the other towers and boredly texting Jack, D'Artagnan, David and Clary.
In all, Chase is utterly enamored with his experience with the CDC. It's fun, and for the first time in his life he is able to use his powers publicly, and spectacularly. He's a little desperate to prove himself, more fearful than he'd like to admit that if he is deemed useless he'll never get his hands on the prize he'd agreed to come for, but for the most part he's just enjoying his time and the slew of strange, actually interesting people he's met.
