I mean, you never actually asked. You asked if it would be worth it to ask. Totally different.
[In other news, Chase is the actual worst. But he's also the lonely sort of worst: finding Caleb, finding his little group of friends even though they were all (ostensibly) what Chase was, he glimpsed something he actually sorta wanted. Sure, it made them all weak and easy to manipulate (though not that he recognizes it, it's also what made Caleb strong enough to fight back in the end), but it still seemed... worth it. Almost. Maybe. He's not sure.
They were happy. And they weren't killing themselves slowly. They'd had more than he had, which was a slap to the face, for someone who always thought he had everything.
So maybe he'll dial back on jabbing at all of Jack's little buttons to try and see where and when he'll crack. At least for now. Just until he decides if Jack has the right idea, finding people he'd stick his neck out for like this.
Chase's eyes narrow briefly, before his brow smooths out and he gives a nonchalant shrug. The best way to deal with things is to pretend they're just not happening, right? Right.]
Not a scratch, scout's honor.
[He was never a scout and he thinks honor is a waste of time, but there you have it. He's about to brush the whole thing off, only--]
--Hey. We had a deal! [YOU CAN'T DO THAT JACK HE'S ONLY GOT LIKE 2 CLOTHES?? It's cruel and unusual!]
It was implied, and you were aware of opinion on it.
[ you knew, you little shit. but whatever, done is done, and it just means he'll have to keep a closer eye on chase, especially when david's involved. maybe he has nothing to get out of it outside of social interaction (he does seem the starved for attention type), but guessing isn't really enough when it comes to people jack cares about.
either way, there's an agreement there, frail as it may be, and for the moment, jack will rest assured on that, giving a short nod, after watching him for a moment.
scout's honor. h a .
and as for the outburst on clothing - ]
Then don't piss me off and I won't be inclined to annull our deal.
[He's so offended right now omg. Clothes are serious business, okay? Especially nice clothes. If Jack didn't want his stuff perpetually borrowed he shouldn't own such good things.]
When are you not pissed off? Don't put that on me.
